Default Help modifying my JK

Hey there,

Looking for tips regarding lift kits and what some good ones are. My friend was suggesting I go with one that his company can throw on that costs around $281. Can't recall the name of it right now but I feel that this is sorta cheap and I don't want to get one that won't "do the job."

So if you have any tips on what to look for in a lift kit that would be awesome. Even posting what kit you have and how it performs I would be thankful.

I don't know really anything about this stuff so need some guidance so I don't screw myself over. Any other tips regarding other modifications I should make would be cool as well, currently have a stock 08 Wrangler Unlimited. I'll be throwing on some KM2's with 17" x 9" wheels by the way.

Once again any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

depending on what size tire you are getting, you can go with a Budget Boost which is essentially just a spring spacer but they are good for a 2" lift and can get away with 35's with just trimming the front plastic skid plate or 37 ive heard with a lot of trimming. Soo many choices with lifts its up to what you want and need i guess

More than any other lift manufacturer, Tereflex gets the best marks on here for product and customer service. Search for "Teraflex" and "lift" you will finds heaps of info.

Lift depnds upon what tires you want. You'll need 2.5" lift for 35s, 3-4" for 37s.

When going to 35 or 37's you'll definitely need to trim the pinch seem in front of your rear wheels. Try to stay at 3" lift with 35's and you won't "need" to mod much else. Going to 4" lift, will probably push you to want to get new extended brake lines, drive shafts and control arms. Going to 37's will make you want to re-gear. I' say go to 35's and slowly build up your Jeep as you find it necessary through your experiences. Talk to more fellow jeepers that do the same type and amount of wheeling you do, they can help you avoid unecessary or double expenses.

Default Tera Flex

I went with a Tera Flex 2.5" lift to run 35's. Choose it because of Tera Flex's excellent reputation. IMO spend the money, build it right the first time and enjoy.
