I have a stock 2008 JKU Sport equipped with the 17' Moab rims. It's finally time to replace the stock rubber! I want a good all terrain tire and was looking at the BFG A/T.

Just surfing tire sites I am having problems trying to find what what sizes I can fit without having to add spacers or modifying anything. I want a tire larger and more aggressive looking then the current Goodyear wrangler street tires that come on them stock. Maybe some 32 or 33s.

You can fit 33s without a lift, though you will likely need spacers to avoid rubbing at full turn. Spacers aren't bad, spidertrax makes a good set for about $200 for 4.

Read this sticky:

It will help educate you on what tires will fit.

Looks like I am getting 265s or 285s. Is 265 like a 32.5 tire?

Each tire will have a whole long list of specs after it. If it starts with a metric size, guess what? Somewhere to the right will be the height and width in inches.

For example, on BFG's website, find the new AT KO2, click 'pricing and specs', then scroll down to the tire you are considering. If it is 265/70/17, you look to the right, and ... BAM... 31.6"x10.7" ... kinda like magic, huh.

Most sites do have spec sheets one can view actually tire sizes.. Tirerack has such a spec sheet.. and you can even compare spec vers other tires.. What throws me is that I don't have a clue as to what all the numbers mean and even after reading their write up about this.. I find it easier to just look at the spec sheet.. and focus on the specs your interested in.. me.. it was as you mentioned above, the closest thing to a 32'' or 33'' tires.. just realize that even though the tire is listed as a 32'' or 33'' the specs will show differently. So even though I'm technically getting a 33" tire.. the specs indicate it's only 32''+
