Help: rear adjustable track bar install
I recently purchased a used 2007 Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited with a 2.5" Skyjacker lift. Even more recently the factory bracket that is welded to the rear axle mounting the trac bar snapped off. I was just driving on level surface. Anyway, Jeep repaired the issue and fabricated a new bracket to the lift bracket and totally did away with the factory mounting bracket. However my rear axle is not centered under the Jeep. Now I have a Teraflex adjustable Trac bar ordered to remedy that situation. Does anyone know, is this install something I can do at home with a floor jack or do I need to pay the $150.00 to Jeep to have them do it?
Its really really easy. Just remove the two bolts holding the current one on, install the new track bar. You will have to adjust it first to get theaxle centered. Plus when I did it I had a big friend lean on the jeep so there was not tension on the bar when I was installing it. With tension the bolts are hard to get in the holes...
I just did mine last weekend. Took a whole few minutes to do. Removed stock bar, bolted new one to frame bracket, made sure length was correct, lifted rear diff till both tires were barely off the ground, pulled on bumper till holes lined up, put bolt in, torqued them both down........rear axle centered.
Excellent!!! Thank you! I will give it a shot. Not sure what the easy way will be to decide what exact length to set the new bar to. But I'm sure I can manage it. Thanks again for your advise!
Follow the instructions on Project-JK. Hold a level against the rear fender and measure to the center of the wheel on both sides. You will see how far your axel is to one side. Adjust track bar to center.
