I'm experiencing similar issues and this has me thinking. I know that I did hit a rock on my last outing with the tie-rod. I'll have to take a look at it later and see if I notice its straightness.

Thanks for the link to buy the necessary parts. I'll bookmark that for future reference.

bobzinger,
take and post a pic of it to get opinions if its bent or not... there are quite a few factory bends in the OE tie-rod but none of them should give you a upward hump (ha, i said hump)..i just recieved my RK HD tie-rod and the damn thing is so friggin heavy and thick as all hell...remember the moog part number is ES-194-R , and you want two of them... the drag link takes ES-194-R and ES-194-L but the ti-rod uses the same one on each side...so dont get confused. also i see you have a 4" lift..you gotta consider a trac-bar drop bracket and a longer pitman arm or instead of the pitman arm you could get the tera flex drag link flip kit... i just installed the FT pitman arm and their drop bracket and gotta tell ya my jk is back to handling the way it should. i use to have loose and unstable steering ever since i lifted the jk a year ago and have been miserable with the way my jeep handled on road and am now as happy as a pig in shit......"oink-oink. drives staright on with no wandering what-so-ever.....

Good stuff... thanks. I'll start looking into this so I can wrap my head around it. Did you do the work yourself?

Thanks again.

Here's a shot up the front of my skirt... I guess the tie rod looks pretty straight, except for the factory bend. I do eventually plan to replace the front end components with RK gear.

Actually your tie-rod looks straight, if it were bent from a rock you would tell.
Mine on the other hand is bent no matter what angle you look at it from. Like i said i have it in my posession just waiting on those moog ends. If you need to spend money on another mod i would say go for it. Keep in mind that the RK tie-rod is $140 plus 50 something for the moog ends from rockauto.

I took the jeep into the dealer today to get some things fixed before my warrenty goes.... who would of thought that they wont fix it after a rock hits it? Eh well it was worth a try.

Actually i got my Tie Rod for $160 including shipping off Ebay and the Moog ends are $118 shipped to 86301. Like is aid Expensive fix but its one that will never have to happen again.
