Default Help with Springs.

Ok, here's the deal. I bought a 2" coil spacer kit for front and rear and I also bought new Skyjacker shocks to go with it, but I was thinking of maybe getting new springs and not use the coil spacers. What springs does a 2011 Jk 2 door sport have stock and what should I look for if I replace the OEM ones with? Also would it be better to do new springs with the new shocks or just use the coil spacers?

Thanks.

Not sure I can really advise you on whats better in regards to spaces vs springs... but to check what springs you have now, take a look at the tag that should be present on each spring; take note of the last two numbers on the tag - that should tell you what springs you have on now. The fronts usually range from 14 to 19, rears from 54 to 60; with the lower the number meaning the softer the spring.

For example, in this picture the last two digits on the tag is 14

ok so I looked at the springs I have, 14 in front and 54 in rear, now if I buy either 18/19 front and 58/59 rear will that make a big difference from what i currently have?

I think you'll probanly gain about 1 1/2 ". I went from 17's to 18's on the front of a 4 door and got almost 1/2"

If the Skyjacker shocks are the right length for a 2" lift (2" spacers) then they are probably too long to use with stock height springs. There are a ton of 2" to 2.5" lift springs on the market. That's what you most likely need to run with your shocks.

I'm not a fan of a spacer lift when changing springs takes the same amount of work and doesn't cost that much more.

I made that move with mine and gained about 2" in the front, and closer to maybe 1 3/4" in the rear

Since you've already got the spacers and the shocks, I'd buy some used 18/59 springs to go with the spacers and use the springs and spacers with your new shocks. I just so happen to have some of those springs I'm looking to sell for $100 plus shipping for all 4. :-)
