Default HELP - Weird Starting Issues

Every now and then, my 2012 JKU won’t start unless I bang on the steering wheel a few times. Had the ignition switch checked and that’s not the issue. Has anyone heard of this issue?

Well if banging on it gets it to start up, and you've already had the ignition mechanism checked, it might be a wiring/connector issue somewhere in the steering column. Are you sure its hitting the steering wheel that gets it to start? When the issue occurs, does that solve it every time?

Kyle - thank you for your reply. I’ve attached a link with a video of the issue. Hitting the steering fixes it every time.

Rather than hitting the steering wheel, this time hit the shifter knob and see if it starts. And then if you get a chance, see if putting it into N from park gets it to start. And if you get another chance....lol.....see if it starts when pushing forward on the shifter knob into park.

All I had to do was slightly touch the shifter knob and it would start. I have a suspicion that you are essentially doing the same thing with a hard hit to the wheel.

It could also be a WCM or battery ground or engine ground issue.
