Hey, Dynomax guy...
Here's my review and install. Hope this helps!
Dynomax Evolution Competition exhaust exits before the rear axle
After a post and a lot of YOUTUBE sound clips, I decided to go with the Dynomax Evolution Competition exhaust. This is my review. ******************************* Keep in mind I have a basic mechanics tool box and a small garage******************
1. The removal of stock was a pain! I recommend using a saws-all. Made the job a lot easier!
2. The clamp at the ''Y" pipe was a Mo Fo! Could not get a socket on it and if I could no room to break loose! I tried using the saws-all on it but again no room. My last resort was taking a cold chisel to it. Nada! Laying on my back staring up at the "Y" I realized that the stock and Dynomax pipe are the same in size....2.5......
3. I measured the Dynomax pipe. Length is 17 inches, so from the "Y" I measured out 17 inches, made my mark and took the saws-all to it.
4. Then I took sandpaper to the stock to smooth out, for easy slide into the new muffler. I all so recommend using some WD-40, but make sure to wipe the excess off.
5. Install the down pipe.
6. Tighten down all clamps. I recommend welding the pipes after install. Muffler shop in town did it for $12.00.
After the install, the test drive.
I can honestly say that I'm very happy with the results!
1. The drone is not bad at all. I only notice the drone when in 2nd gear at a speed of 15mph.
2. I have noticed a bit more power at take off. (minor....but I can feel the difference)
3. At cruising speed (45-50mph) hardly notice that there is an after market exhaust is on. Still a growl though. Have not been on the freeway yet, but I'm sure there is no difference.
Over all I'm very happy with the Dynomax Evolution Competition exhaust. I will and do recommend!

Thanks for your step by step. Write-ups like that are why this forum rocks.

I'm in a 2 door. That's why I'm having problems. Seems I'm not as retarded as I thought. I just spent 20 minutes on the phone with Dynomax insisting that I need to cut this exhaust pipe. And this is what we determined. :(
Ordering up another part now. :(

Mounted the Evolution Competition on my 2 Door. It wasn't too bad of an install. I did have to cut the middle pipe down a bit. Only thing im concerned about is the heat next to the EVAP canister or whatever it is, what do you think? I also think I might cut down the exhaust tail pipe to give the hanger isolator a better fit.
Overall, it sounds a lot deeper and definitely gives a better throttle response. We will see what it sounds like after the break in period.

I had the model that dumped out before the axle, it was a little loud for me with the hard top on. I bought the pipe that dumps it out past the axle, sound much better and quitter in the cab. This was on a 2 door.
With all the talk about the pipes dumping before the rear, I thought exhuast pipes by Fed law required them to exhiast out past the rear passanger seat or at least out the sides of the vehicle, no?
