Default Hi-Lift Jack mounting issues.

Hey guys, I installed a mount that places a hi-lift jack on the factory tailgate. The mount installs with longer bolts that replace the factory ones, going through the plastic trim piece, hinge and into the factory female end. The mount is very stable with no noise. The jack, however makes alot of noise inside the cab while driving. I have tied it down with rubber bungie cords and it still seems to make too much noise. You would think it has something to do with the handle shaking but I have a poly handle keeper on it. Has anyone installed one of these and found out how to keep it from annoying you while going down the road? Thanks in advance for the tips!

Don't have a rampage but I have a Rugged Ridge mount. Easiest mod I did was cut a mouse pad (computer) to place on the bottom of the bracket to sit the lift on. Reduced any kind of rattling to a minimum. Remeber if you use any steel lock that will bang around also. Hope this may help some.

I took my handle out and wrapped a couple of rounds of electrical tape on the end that goes into the lifting mechanisim. I also have the jack isolator and found that the e-tape helped quiet the rattle.

Default Pipe Insulation

I put some pipe insulation (about one inch wide) around the handle and secured with electrician's tape. Works like a charm and super quiet. And I have the Rampage too.

Should be super quiet. I don't even notice the jack is on the back.

Good luck.

I too have the Rampage jack holder. Make sure that the back edge of the jack floorplate is all the way to the rear of the holder. Mine rattles when the base is not all the way back of the holder. I also have a Daystar handle isolator.
