Zip ties around the stock rubbers have worked perfect for me. I may try the spring removal though.

With the spring working the opposite direction of the latches it reduces the overall strength of the latches to hold the hood down.
That's my explanation.
Before the removal of the spring you have the spring and the wind to lift the hood and the weight of the hood and the latches to hold the hood down.
After the removal hood and latches only have to work against the wind pushing it up.

So you don't get your fingers dirty or stuck when you close the hood. You can just let it drop the last few inches....just like a soccer mom

Zip ties AND spring removal...

A tornado wouldn't make it flutter.

For a 25 dollar part I'll keep my spring and like I said with a 2012 with the air dam removed the OEM latches seem to work fine. I believe a few years ago they changed the compound of the rubber.

The spring is pushing the hood up and the latches are forcing it down thus causing a tiny flutter
I replaced the rubber with an aftermarket product, left the spring in - works great!

I bought the rugged ridge aluminum hinges and I love them! No hood flutter at all. They are adjustable and are just beefy aesthetically pleasing!

All a personal/$ choice. I just installed the Drakes, simply because they work and I didn't mind the price for the looks
