i herd a grinding noise after driving to work the other day. so i opened the rear up and this is what i saw

Default teeth marks
look in the right side of the picture all the teeth marks on the carrier that are not supposed to be there

That's bad. Did you upgrade your gears? Still under warranty? Your looking at at least replacing some things. As to what, can't really tell from a blurred pic.
