i did not upgrade gears. there is no was that the the dealer will cover this under warranty. any ideas on on what caused this?

Why not warranty? unless it's out if it. To answer your question, hard wheeling, faulty install, factory errors, no oil, among other things. Good luck.

i wish they would cover this but the jeep is highly modified. we all know that once u start lifting and adding other this to the jeep the dealer voids warranty.

Are you running bigger wheels or different driveshafts? That's the only thing I could see them being able to void it for.
