How do YOU shop for new wheels?
We all go through that at some point. If you find something you like, stop second guessing yourself and pull the trigger. No matter what you do, down the road you'll always come across another wheel you like better...
I may be bias now but I get all my wheels and tires through Discount Tire.
Truth is, I was a customer before I worked here and they always treated me right and were priced right too.

I originally requested a quote from DTD, and they suggested I see a local DT and compare. I like up-front business ethics like that. Greatly appreciate. So, I did go local, and magic was performed. With a national back order on both wheels and tires, the local American Tire scored. The manager was able to not only gather my 10 items, but hold onto all the pieces ( they don't arrive all at the same time to the shop) all the while fielding requests to take my stuff. Putting half down more than likely helped retain my wheel set too.
Well I just went through all this noise , & this is how I did It .... I read & searched hours on this forum & google ! Once finally deciding on which wheels / tires ... Then I went to all the major sites & wrote prices down .... Called local shops & compared ...... After many many weeks .... This is how I ended up ! Good luck ! It's worth it !!!!

Great question. I just went through the same thing you are going through. It took me 4 months to decide and guess what, I still have not taken delivery of my jeep LOL
Jeeps are not Escalades so dont look for anything over 18 inches or in Chrome. If you want 18 inch wheels your tire selection will be limited. 17 inch wheels have the greatest selection of tires. Ive read that if you want to go offroad, your wheel size should be within 1 inch of 2x your tire size. So if you want 35 inch tires, dont go more than 18 inch's. If you want 33 inch tires dont go more than 17's.
What color is your jeep? If its black you can go with all Aluminum, All Black, or a combo of the both. If you have a silver Jeep, I would empahsize more aluminum and less black. If you have any other color, I would go all aluminum.
Offset is critical. Study it. Understand it. If you go with 18x9, a 0 offset is the max, -6 - -12 is optimal.
There are tons of wheels out there. Google "Truck Wheels" and select SHopping and Images to see what is out there.
WHeels are very personal. No single Mod will have a larger impact on the look of your jeep. CHoose carefully. WHen you find what you like, dont let anyone tell you otherwise. Pull the trigger and buy em.

Seems like there is an endless number of options for wheels, it sort of makes my head spin. I had planned on taking the rattlecan to my OEM rubi wheels but then learning a little more about spacers and offroading, I'm going to back out of those and just buy some new wheels. Not putting spacers down or looking to go on that tangent, just not for me.
So besides random surfing the web looking for wheels, hitting 4wheelparts and quadratec and surfing around, how do you shop for wheels? I'm sure it is a combination of many things ... I wish I could go to more monthly gatherings as there is a good one here in north Dallas, I just haven't been able to make it.
What sites are have the largest selection? Any other tips?

^^^What he said^^^ Also I would say make sure your wheel choice fits the kind of driving you do or are planning on doing. I knew I wanted bead locks so that helped narrow down my choices. I have a deep cherry JKU Rubi and liked the look of an all black wheel so that further narrowed it down. It came between the walker Evans and Raceline monsters. Both are competition wheels and when it came to price the racelines won. Now if you like the look of a bead lock wheel but don't really plan on hard wheeling maybe they are not for you. They can't be mounted at any ol tire shop, most arnt DOT compliant, and they are expensive (if just for looks). Most of the bead lock manufactures make a faux bead lock and are significantly cheaper. Also if u plan on wheeling even moderatly be prepared for your new wheels to get scratched up. Even being as careful as possible it will probably happen and it may be easier to take if they arnt too pretty...;-). Lastly, When it all comes down to it pick something that is not only functional for your application but also something you like. It's your jeep and you will be driving it so who cares what your friends and family say. Make sure they make you happy when you walk out and see it. Hope this helps a bit.
Here are a couple pics of what make me happy...lol

Got mine from coppell. Discount tire for the tires themselves for nationwide tire coverage if there are any issues.
They price matched 4 wheel drive hardware on the tires.
