Default How high without Driveshaft problems?

Newbie with a 2008 4dr. Rubicon/ 6 spd. Looking for answers on lift kits. There are so many to choose from with a wide price range. I fully understand that you get what you pay for but am very unclear on how high you can go on the factory drive shafts? I was looking at the Rough Country 4", the Rubicon Express 4", and also the Teraflex 2.5" for price and possible upgrades. Most 4" kits say there may be drivetrain issues. This is why i have turned to you guys. So anyone with some helpfull information on this issure would be greatly appreciated!!!

4" lift on the six speed, no problem.

4" lift on the automatic = get a aftermarket front drive shaft.

I would think that at 4" of lift the front drive shaft is gonna need to be replaced. Lot of people running the TF 3" kit are reporting almost 4" of lift and no mention of replacing the DS, but I would assume once the front end drops, the DS would be right behind it.

the unlimiteds can run a little over 4inches of lift and not have a problem. I have about 4inches of lift on mine and as long as I keep the sway bar connected I dont have a problem with it.

So then it's a yes? If you go 4" you need to replace the driveshafts if you want to disconnect the sway bar? Well that just expanded my budget another grand,...well probably 2 to have them installed.....aaghhhh. so now I'm at 7 grand....aghhh

Just replace the front, it will cost around $500.00, and install it yourself.

I was told by someone at the local 4x4 shop that a 4" short arm lift is fine with the stock drive shafts. When you go to the long arm kits that is where you should plan on replacing the drive shafts.

I wouldn't know by experience since I am still stock and I am only looking for a 2.5"-3" lift for 33" tires.
