Default how long does it take to install gears?

Just curious how long it should take to install gears on a dana 30 and 44?
My jeeps in the shop right now and I called to check up on them and they were having troubles setting up the dana 33. Is the dana 33 harder than the 44 to install?

They had trouble doing my D30 till they realized that I needed a new carrier. This contradicted everything that I'd read about JK's up till then. I've now heard of a few others that had this problem.

Looks like you have 3.73's though, so you should have the right carrier, but who knows anymore? Jeep keeps changing crap and not telling anybody!!!

With no issues it should take 4-6 hours.

well its been at least 6 hours that I know of. I just called them and they think they are getting close to getting the pattern right on the front dana 30.

I asked him about the back and they haven't started that yet. :(

If your with a reputable shop that has installed these gears or any for that matter it shouldn't take longer than half a work day. Again that's of course if the shop intern isn't installing em. Although as 2K1TJ said, sometimes there are just those issues that you can't get around. I wouldn't worry, if the guys have been doing gears for a while they'll figure it out. Worth the wait!

I called David at NorthRidge4x4 and he says I don't need a new carrier if my stock gears are 3.73 or higher. I'm getting the dealership to install the gears because there are no 4x4 shops in my area and the dealership has always been really good in the past.

Did my first detroit locker and gear install in about 8 hours (front and rear checked and triplechecked). should go alot quicker with a lift (not jackstands) and experience.

Take it from someone who grew up in a shop...if you would quit calling they could get to it! (Ya know I'm giving you a hard time)
