Default How much to install?

Finally got all my parts in and I'm debating on whether to do it myself. How much should it cost to install this stuff? Please don't post that I should do it myself.
I live in Maryland if it matters.

TERAFLEX 3” Suspension System w/Full FlexArm System - w/ Shocks
TERAFLEX HD Forged Front Adjustable Trackbar
TERAFLEX Steering Stabilizer

Mount / balance 5, 35's on 17X9 rims
Alignment
Center steering wheel w/AEV procal

I was quoted $650 for install and $25 per tire mount/balance. plus 6% shop fee on "labor"....still waiting for an email reply to see how much that is.

I would expect $300 to $500. $650 is a little more than I would expect. I know shops here that will install a full long arm lift for $800 and that's a ton more work.

OMG this is expensive

In Mexico:

Lift : Around $1,000 pesos (like $85usd)
SS: It costs me $150 pesos (around 12 USD)
Trackbar: You can do this, very simple..
Mount+Balance+Alignment: Around $600 pesos ( something like 50 bucks)

It's a total of 150 USD

So u can come to Mexico and install all your things

Thanks, I'm not in Mexico.....and it would cost that much in gas to get there when I barely get 17mpg now.

I'm not trying to be an @$$ because I really appreciate the help I've gotten from these forums, but come on....how about no more replies like that?

Default Cost of install.

Never looked to get quotes to install my lift, mine was an OME complete kit, springs, shocks, bump stops, track bars, brake lines, sway bar ends, lower controll arms, and spring retainers took about 12 hours to install it. Spent a few hours farting around with the trackbars, contol arms and bleeding break lines (helps when you have a good bleeder!!!)

So if it takes someone like me 12 hours figure a shop with exp should take about 6-8 hours, so your price of $650 === over $80 an hour

Question to ask yourself is this shop worth over $80 an hour? Have they installed this type of lift? Will they know if something is not right? Ask this place alot of questions about all the parts in your lift, what might you be missing.

To wrap this up I have tow shops I use up here one at $48 the other at $72, the guy @ 48 an hour, great guy good for basic stuf, fan belts, radiator replacement, breaks, oil changes, would I use him for a gear replacement or lift install, engine rebuild, tranny rebuild (NOPE know the guy he is a backyard mechanic good for basic stuff !) Now the guy @ 72 an hour is GOOD does a lot of custom rebuilds HI PRO stuff, highly trained smart 'd use him to install a lift or gears, rebuilds ect.. Bottom line you get what you pay for..

hope this helps.. best of luck on the lit

$650 is in the ball park ($450-600) for SoCal for the lift kit. The track bar and stabilizer are little bit extra.

Can you mount and balance the tires yourself?

IMO, the real question is do you have the time and place to do the installation yourself.? The procedure is documented and you have an outstanding source of information here for any questions. The tools are less than $650 and you will be able to use them on any other mods in your plans.

Default Cost

First off, do not feel compelled to do any install yourself. I am a father of three kids under 6, I work a ton of hours and I am a graduate student to boot. I would rather spend the free time wheelin than wrenchin. If you got the dough, support the local economy and have your local shop do it. Don't get taken to the cleaners though.

I just had 4Wheel parts in my area install the following for $400:
2.5" TF Coil kit
TF front lower control arms
TF quick discos
JKS front and rear adjustable track bars
Rancho steering stabilizer with relocation bracket

I think this is a fair price. I am sure someone will chime in about how I could have saved $250 but time is worth more than money right now.

Good luck.
