Default How safe are SOLID diff covers

I am thinking about getting Solid diff covers for the D44's in my Rubicon. On the web site they mention they need to have a large part ground off to not ruin the lockers. What is your opinion, do you think they will be ok or should I just go with another cover that is safer like riddler or arb?

What web site says you have to have a large part ground off? I bought the covers already, but am waiting to get my lockers installed before I put the covers on.

The Solid website has this page attached to the Dana 44 diff cover page: http://www.solidaxle.com/PDF/44_Rubicon_Fitment.pdf

I have done this and wheeled it since and have had no problems. I don't think it makes it any weaker, its the piece around the fill plug that to me sticks out to far anyway.

Anyone know if this needs to be done for aftermarket lockers?

The site says it is specifically for the Rubicon JK's so I guess the factory e-lockers are just special.

I went ahead and called them and the guy said the problem is with the e-locker in the JK rubicon only. the cover will hit the e-locker and crack it when you tighten it down unless you grind the part shown on that web page.
I tried to order them but unfortunately they seem to only ship to your billing address and I have had packages stolen from my home in the past. Unfortunately UPS delivers at the same time I am at work. Too bad I guess the sale was too good to be true.

Ookkkkkkkkkkkkkk...and how is that their fault? A lot of places will only ship to a billing address, its called fraud prevention.

Regarding this grinding, this is real interesting - I had never seen this before. I wonder if that's why my rear locker went out. I'm going to have to investigate this pronto!

If they were so worried about fraud they may want to ship their product to a place where it is not sure to be stolen. In that case I would just call my credit card and dispute the transaction (I ordered it and never received it). I am not placing blame on them I am just saying that they lost a sale due to their inflexability. Northridge has no issues in shipping items to my work address.

IMO, it's a perfect excuse to go get a grinder. so my $65 diff covers cost me $180, but they came with a free grinder.
