Its not going to effect anything by grinding that off. You are simply removing excess flashing from the casting.

I saw Wiredawg's Solid covers after he grinded the area down. It was still strong as hell and would provide much better protection than the cheap thin stamped steel stock cover.

Exactly the way I looked at it!

Annoying. I didn't realize this when I ordered it last week. The cover arrived. I guess I'll pick up a grinder for $50 at HD and just figure I got a $115 cover and a free grinder.

The grinding took very little time and doesn't in any way compromise the strength of the covers. If I could weigh all the material I ground off it would be ~50-60grams AT MOST (~1-2oz).

Yes it's a PITA if you aren't expecting to do it (I wasn't) but for the quality of the covers I would still buy them again without hesitation.

Does this have to be done with other lockers as well? Just wondering. Thanks

Why not fix a poor design rather than tell your customers to grind it down. I don't like mickey-mouse solutions. I run these:

3/8" steel, welded and machined flat after to ensure the seal!

I agree. I wouldn't have bought this one had i realized. Then again, $65 is cheap. I have a Riddler front cover.
