Question How sturdy is the AEV front bumper

I'm considering buying the AEV front bumper, but $1250 seems like a steep price for just a bumper. Is this price justified? Maybe if it came WITH the skid-plate.
I would definitely like to wait until AEV has a sale.

And I'm wondering, those of you that have it, how durable it is. Have you ever hit an obstacle at low speed (under 10MPH) and survived any major denting or disfiguration of the AEV?

Also, what lights and winch do you have mounted? I need suggestions.
I will not need a Powerplant, as I know they don't fit, but I'm leaning toward the Warn brand in general. I'd like to add an onboard air tank/compressor in the future anyway.

Sounds like a very durable bumper that did exactly what it was designed to do. That post sounds like it was hit on a downhill slide at upwards of 15MPH though.
But one of the posts said it was available for $750 direct from the manufacturer, which would make it much more affordable.

I'm not even sure that the shipping is included with their $1250 price tag, as the cart won't load.

I installed this bumper on my brother in laws 08 JK and plan to install it in mine soon.

The best way to describe this bumper is if the Jeep was a suitcase, the AEV bumper is the handle.

The AEV bumper is overkill...but more is always better

The downside is the coating they use is so nice, you don't want to scratch it.

IT will hold up well to any impact, however I cannot say that the price is worth it. The price of this bumper is only for those looking for both function and beauty rather than function alone.

If you are looking for the battering ram and don't care so much about the curves, then go with something cheaper. If you want looks AND function, then the AEV is the way to go.

Oh, and just my , the AEV keeps the winch low, below the radiator and does not block valuable airflow. If you choose another bumper, don't buy one that has a winch mounted up high blocking airflow to the radiator.
