Hurst shift knob
Really like the hurst shift knob from quadratic. Anyone do this? Any threading issues on the 2012 6 speed. It says it's universal but I've have to re thread in the past and had to use loc tight. I don't want to do that again.
NONE of the JK's manual shift "sticks" are threaded (xfer case included).
most mfg's who sell aftermarket shift balls sell adapters of some type.
i just got done installing a set of sickspeed matching shift balls....the pair is the same price as the
SINGLE hurst ball. the Sickspeed knobs are the only ones i could find in a MATCHING set.
MANY colors and options are available.
I was able to THREAD the sickspeed ball onto the manual gearbox shift rod w/out using their adapter (the adapter is aluminum) and i just (last night) powered coated the adapter black so it blends in better (you could paint it i suppose)....i dont know that i recommend threading the ball on - its a delicate job & it could damage the threads on the ball.

heres a video of how to remove it (i didnt have to remove the top, just the bottom ring & pull HARD).

heres a couple of pictures that might help you -
remember i powdercoated the adapter (normally its 'natural' aluminum color)...
I wanted it to blend in w/ the interior more.
there are several diff size "nylon" inserts provided in the kit (so you can take up any rattle/slack needed), ive included a photo of one...they just slip in the inside of the adapter, they also prevent marring of the shifter stalk.

here's a picture of mine threaded on the shift stalk w/out the adapter (i may never have to install the adapter).
Im still considering a switch to BLACK w/ White lettering...but for now this is what i bought.

Im glad i did it.
its a shame more companies dont offer matching sets. there was no way i was gonna keep that factory crap on one shifter and not the other.
