Hypertech Max Energy Power Programmer
It's a been a while since anyone has discussed these devices.
I'm wondering if any new opinions and or observations have surfaced.
I just finished reading a soft copy of the user manual from the vendor to better understand if this would benefit a stock 4-door X. The only thing I've added to my 08' so far is an Airaid cold air intake which I'm quite fond of.
If anyone else has purchased one of these energy max units, I'd love to hear your thoughts or observations. With the price of gas getting to be what it is, I think we're all trying to find ways to save fuel and curve performance.
Look forward to hearing from you all, much thanks in advance.

Kinda controversial topic! Some think the performance reprogram is overrated and the benefits are psychological. Others swear by it. I bought it to reprogram for bigger tires and 5.13 gears. Can't say I noticed an enormous difference when I used the performance program.
I have put them in both our vehicles. After the tire upgrade on mine, I installed the program and felt better resonse and also got back some MPG loss. The wife's is peppier and slightly better gas mileage. I have not taken hers on a long distance trip to see max mpg increase.
If you have an auto, the programmer will not allow you to adjust the shift firmness or shift RPM.
On the premium fuel setting I *think* I can feel some more pull at the lower RPM than there was before. Drivability had slightly improved, but, how much more can you expect?
Keep in mind, I have all else in stock set-up. No CAI yet, still waiting on a product test.
Overall: Once I got over the dissapointment that I was not going to be able to modify the shifting of the sluggish auto trans, it seemed to be acceptable, but $400 is not worth it unless you require the tire diamter and gear ratio correction features.
Cheers.

Bought mine to correct speedometer and hopefully help out with MPG's. Haven't noticed a MPG change, but actually that could be an improvement as I went from 245/75/16's (31.8") to 295/75/16's (33.6") at basically the same time. I've definitely noticed an improvement starting out (lower rpms) the throttle is more responsive.

I have the max energy in my manual Rubicon. I have it set for premium, and can attest that I get about 1-2 mpg better with my 35s, and can get up hills on the highway in 6th that I couldn't previously climb without dropping to 5th. I do not get a noticeable benefit when I'm running regular fuel, however. Overall, the alteration is slight, but I think it helps. Having to reprogram the speedo already for the larger ruber made the slight additional cost of adding the engine performance reprogramming an easy decision for me.
FYI,
If you aren't interested in the performance reprogram capability, you can save almost $200 by just buying their low-end Accupro. That model only allows you to reprogram the computer (so speedo, etc. is accurate) for larger tires and different gears (up to 5.13's).

I have it and have only used it on premium setting and premium fuel, I have auto and definately noticed the difference in pick up down low, throttle response and much better pick up on highway passing too.
You guys need to be more specific as to what yuo have it programmed for. regular or premium. If you look at hypertechs numbers for the unit there is a good difference between the reg and pre. performance figures.
