Do the automatic JKs shift firmer in 4lo from the factory? I have a 6 speed so I have no idea...

The reason that I'm asking is because the 545RFE in my '04 WJ shifted noticeably firmer in 4lo. My XJ didn't but it was a '96 and didn't have nearly as advanced of a transmission. The JK auto isn't exactly state of the art either though...

i have a 6 speed as well, so i don't know. i was just thinking that it would be nice to have a feature that allows the programmer to switch to the crawl tune automatically, when 4 wheel drive is engaged, as opposed to having to re-tune with the superchips device. i'm not even sure if this is possible to be developed by superchips, just commenting that it would be nice.

I've watched most of the threads on the superchips device and haven't seen a timeline. not having tpms or lockers it's hard for me to get excited about it
Well I'm going to go ahead and order one 'cause they have always been responsive to the customer (excellent in my few personal dealings with them) and it will eventually offer exactly the features I'd like in a programmer. You can be sure they wouldn't advertise these features if they weren't in the pipeline.
I actually hadn't heard of an auto switch in tune as a feature either, but it seems like a natural extension of programming, I'd hate to have to fool with anything out of the glove box when going to 4-LO. Not every off road excursion is a 40 mile trail.

If I can get just a little more performance out of my Jeep in the 55-65mph range for passing on secondary roads I could skip the RIPP blower, but I'm skeptical that this programmer will do much better than the Hypertech in that respect. And unlike some others I have had good results with the Max Energy on premium tune, it's just not quite there and the Superchip will offer me features I'll use even if I go RIPP. So it will probably be an interim step for me, but we'll see.

Even as I approach 10K on the 3.8 it seems to be continuing to loosen up, performance this evening (after a 100 miles on the new Hypertech tune) was a bit encouraging. I gained speed in 6th on a grade at 55mph I used to lose speed on, and a downshift to 5th offered improved performance as well. But it still has that feeling that the throttle is incorrectly adjusted, all the old "Holley Carb" guys know exactly what I mean. You know, when you either can't get the butterflys more than 65% of the way open and/or your vacumn secondaries aren't opening at all!

It just seems to me that the electronics aren't letting the throttle open up no matter what you do with the gas pedal, power be damned we have to limit emissions, and the poor little 3.8 is starving for air. If the Superchips is "peppier" with the throttle opening, and several Jeepers have mentioned this is the case, I may be surprised with the results. This may also explain why they are developing a "crawl tune" feature.

Default Superchip - Buy it!

Do not wait like I did!!! I am running the 93 tune, and the thing is now 10 times more drivable! I am getting better gas mileage just because I am not having to put my foot in the gas like I did before. The 1.5 mpg increase….should make up for the cost of 93. If not, I don’t care because it actually feels like it has power now.

I just put the Superchips on my Jeep last night and noticed an appreciable boost in performance this morning when I hoped in. After I added 33s, my two door drove and felt as sluggish as my wife's 4 door. After Superchips, its back to its peppy 2 door self!
