X2

A 4" lift is too much for 33's. For 33's, the most you would really want to do is around 2.5". With 4", you could easily fit 35's, maybe 37's.

For the rims, assuming you're going to wheel it, you want to stick with 15" - 17", not larger. The smaller the rim, the better:
1. More side wall is better for off road
2. Less expensive

My 33" Combo:

Tires: 285 X 75 X 16
Rims: 16 X 8 with 4.5" backspacing

I went from 18" stock wheels to 15's and like the ride and looks much better. Tires were more economical too.

I run 33" 20x12.5 NITTO Trail Grapplers (actual tire size is 295/55/R20...it's actually like a 32.9" tire)...I ran it on the stock suspension for a few months and off roaded with it just fine...no rubbing, no problems. I think it depends on the type of wheeling you do. I'm in Cincinnati and we mostly do hills, mud, trails, etc....we don't any hardcore huge bolder type of wheeling in the group of guys im with. That being said, I did want the lift and so I went with a Rough Country 2.5" springs and shocks lift. Like I said, I never rubbed before so I obviously don't rub with the lift.

Sidewall is obviously smaller than what a 17 or 18 would be but that's just not my style....I wanted 35's with the 20" wheel, to have a bigger sidewall but they were ridiculous in price so I went 33.... I'm completely content with my decision. In hindsight, maybe I would have gone 18 but a completely different style of wheel but I don't know if I would have been happy. PM if you want to talk mor about it.

That's the hot look for the islands. You won't believe what you see there. I split time between Oregon and Hawaii (mostly Maui). Not uncommon to see a full sized truck with a massive lift, 14-16" wide wheels, and 32" tires stretched to the max. Fortunately most of the local Jeeper's do not buy into this.

33in tire on a 20in wheel, not the best idea.

Why don't you think it's a good idea?

Wow. Thanx guys! This really cleared it up for me. I'm going w a 4" lift a 17 wheels and tires as big as I can. 37" tires are biggest right?
