The back spacing effects the hub side of the wheel so the overall wheel width isn't going to matter on that side. For example, tires on 3.5" backspaced 10" wide wheel are going to stick out from under the fenders more than tires on a 3.5" backspaced wheel but the hub side should be the same.
not true if you have a 10 inch wide wheen aith the same backspacing of an 8inch wide one the 10 inch is going to be an inch wider on both ends allowing the tire to spread out wider.

Edit: Another option for you might be wheel spacers. 1.25" spacers change your wheel spacing by the same amount. This type of problem is why the spacers came out so quick for the JK.
wheel spacers scare me i have been known to beat the hell out of my jeep and i have heard of spacers snaping.

i really cant believe i am the onlyone having this problem. is anyone else running 10 inch wide rims??

?
That is incorrect. The width of the wheel has nothing to do with back spacing. It either has a specified amount of backspacing, or it doesn't. It has to do with the wheel mounting surface (wms) distance to the inboard wheel flange. The tire does spread, but it also depends on the tire width which is a related but different issue.

Here is a link on how to measure it. http://www.fourwheeler.com/techartic...tte/index.html

Edit: I think you are talking about wheel offset which relates to backspacing in relation to wheel width.
