I can get mine out with the door shut, if it is to tight try pulling it forward and sliding it out the front of the brackets

I was thinking of mounting it to the glove compartment just below the grab bar.

I've been thinking about where to do this, as much as I like the drivers seat mount, I worry it will get snatched when doorless. I may try to see if I can fit it on the backside on the console. I usually leave the back doors on anyway. This way it's a little safer and still in arms reach.

I would never use a maglite... when I can use my surefire.
I keep it in a speed holster attached to the roll bar above my head.

Get a Lens Laser flashlight. LED, very bright and small (depending on which model you choose). Light and easy to cary, hold and use. Buy a gun to replace your "weapon"........it gets mounted on your side or one of many other concealed carry options.

another spot i've considered is the flat spots on eithe side of the console that houses the nav/temp controls. its wide enough but I need to check to see if my leg or the passengers leg would bump against it. I'm going to mount the clips with automotive 3m tape until I"m positive where its going.

Awesome idea. I had the maglite clips in my garage and my maglite tossed under the drivers seat in the Jeep. About 10 minutes after reading this post...
