Default I'm learning, but slowly.

Going 2wd to 4wd. I just want 4wd drive for hunting, fishing, camping, and snow issues....no real crawling craziness in my future. Can I use a mopar transfer case and shifter assembly, or do i have to go atlas. I know that the atlas is better, but mopar will be cheaper/easier to find used. Also, will using the mopar stuff, will it be an easier fit into my existing consul.

Ya, based on what you mentioned there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to convert to a 4wd fairly economically. No you don't have to go to atlas, a standard t-case from an X or Sahara should be had relatively cheaply, the Rubi 4:1 tcase would be great but you don't NEED it, and I think I saw somewhere one could be had for roughly 1500...a d30 axle would suit your requirements, then you need drive shafts and your golden.
A 4wd JK wreck would be your best, cheapest option potentially, if you could find one. If not, search this boards for sale section for take offs from others that have upgraded, I'm sure you can find some wicked deals and convert for around 3500 if you did the work.
Someone else was looking to upgrade as well, but I think they had their hearts set on a d44 front axle assembly, more $$, you should be just fine with a d30 for what you mentioned.

WOL = Way of Life, a.k.a. Eddie. This forum is his web site. If you click on the Project-JK link on the home page you will see all his write ups, tech articles, pics, etc.

There are a couple threads about this already.... I can't find them at the moment either. I will refer you to the "search" button up there ^^^

Here is your thread from two days ago...
https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/modified-jk-tech-2/non-mechanic-needs-help-108671/

And here is the other thread (also linked in that thread) with more good info...
https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/show...=104989&page=2

You should stick with a cheap JK T-Case. For your use, an Atlas is overkill...
