Default Increase HP through computer flash

May be its a stupid question but after reading few posts on towing if you want to tow you have to take your JK for a computer reflash which will change your engine and transmission settings for more HP or Torque.

What if you dont tow anything and still reflash your computer you will get extra power and torque right

Yes, usually that is right with a reflash. I've also heard of people (not jeep owners) having 2 different ecu maps depending on whether or not they want/need the extra power but I'm sure that probably takes additional hardware.

aaa ha..finally a subject i can help with..i used to be a pretty hardcore drag strip guy w/ mustangs and such..anyways..yes this can be done by reflashing your ecu with a handheld tuner or chip..there are chips that can have up to four different tunes and all you need to do is flip a toggle switch inside the cabin to go b/w tunes...the thing is i doubt there is much interest by the aftermarket world for tuning a jeep engine so it might take some searching or even a custom order...to find one of these chips/tuners i would look at superchips, jet, or maybe even diablo...i had a diablo tuner for my mustang and gained a dyno proven 48 hp and 63 tq to the wheels

I heard the JET one sucks! Everyone is waiting for the BANKS chip to come out. It is supposedly in the works.

Whatever the claim I want to see 3rd party Dyno tests with full disclosure.

Wheel and tire size. gear ratio, what gear if 6 speed, engine mods, temps, humidity, etc.

I'm with you CIJeep. If the product really works it's not expecting too much to see the actual data. I'm tired of guesstimates and implied enhancement.

You forgot barometric pressure and wind speed, not to mention elevation and friction reduced tires.

Heh, yeah, I forgot the barametric pressure, DOH!

I saw Chryslers comparison between the 4L and the 3.8 V6, the VE stomps all over the 4 where it counts. But then again they did not spec publicly the equipment on each Jeep. (it was a RWD comparison)
