Default Info seems to have changed running 35s on a JKU BIG BUCK$

I have been researching and reading a ton in the past year about my JK. I knew I wanted to run 35s. Seems like many that run 33s regret not going bigger. I was under the impression to run 35s on rubi suspension you could get a TF BB and call it a day. Now after enough people have modded and pushed their jeeps hard parts are beginning to break and bend and more info is coming out. Now you need Gussets, Sleeves, Gears, Axles, Driveshafts, Programmer, WTH! In the next few months I will be purchasing AEV Savegre wheels, BFG KM2 35x12.50 and a TF 2.5BB. I will also be buying a rear carrier and bumper not yet known which brand. I do pull a 1900lb camper and dont do much wheelin. I do love an occasional trail ride. My Jeep has 373 and is a 6 speed. I have Rubicon shocks and springs. Can someone PLEASE let me know what will be needed. It seems my budget just jumped to 5k+!!!!! I can understand the allure of 33s at this point but hate to settle.

You don't need all that. I'd get a Procal for $150 to correct the speedometer. Gussets are nice for insurance, but no one really knows how important they are. Gears aren't necessary either. Although if you tow, you might find that getting it going off the line is tough.

That is what the local Jeep club is saying too. Plus I dont take it heavy wheelin only trail riding. I just bought the TF Kit, next week I am buying the Wheels and Tires. We will see. I am sure I will be fine.

I have 33" (295/70/17) Nitto Trail Grappler's. I have 2.5 TF BB and it works fine. It's my DD so I still wanted to get decent MPG (about 16 - 16.5). Yes there are times when I wish I had 35's or bigger but I go out and run the trails with the big guys and do alright. I just have to pick my lines a little more carefully and my skids gets used.

I am happy with what I have so far. Mine is the black rubi.

I'm running a 2.5" BB with 35s and haven't done any of that. I wheel hard enough to use my winch.

you should be fine. I have an 08 jku unlimited x. I run same tire you are getting but i opted
to go to the TF 2.5 coil lift. got some shocks from a rubicon put them on and have no problems.
been running as dd and wheeling for two years this way with no issues. I to have 3.73s but
with auto. Only thing you might think about is beefing up your brakes. you will notice a little
difference in braking with the 35s and when your pulling you may see a significant difference.

I would at least do "c" gussetts and with you towing definently gearing.
A terra flex 2.5" lift will run 37s with cut fenders and 35s no problem I would not run the factor spring retainers and that will drop it by 1/2".

Aside of that as suggested brakes again because you tow.

If you do 33s you will try to justify the purchase and want 35s.... I did 35s and said screw it dumped a bunch more and went 37s but then we rock crawl some really NASTY stuff 2-3 times a month.

Besides the jks are big enough that 33s are on the verge of not looking right....either way its a jeep and its capable right off the showroom floor.
