Install Rancho oil pan armor ??
Anyone have thoughts about glue-on installations. I installed the Rancho oil pan kit exactly as instructed. When I checked it the next morning the floor jack had come down (my bad, should have used another jack type). But...when I went to remove the gasket material (supplied with the kit) it came off the armor and the oil pan VERY easily. I'm now concerned about whether the silicone will hold it in place long term resulting in damage to my vehicle and causing a serious accident to someone else on the freeway. I have seen other pan protectors that have been on for a long time but this one is a full rap-around and quite beefy (heavy). Kudos to Rancho. This is an excellent product. Does anyone know of any other silicone besides Pro Seal XS Hi temp RTV silicone instant gasket (supplied) that is more adhesive or whether I should not install it and wait for a bolt-on to be available.

Bruce K - When I installed mine I “glued” two small pieces of metal together with a dab of the supplied RTV. When I tried to separate them after the RTV dried I found that they were very secure. If installed properly I doubt you could separate properly installed armor.
When you install it make sure all surfaces are clean and dry. Also make sure you use a big (thick) bead of RTV.
As seen in the link, once the armor is on and dry you can use some JB Weld to “fill in” the cracks.
FWIW - I haven’t hit mine yet, and it’s still on.
