Question Installing Electronic Sway-bar Disco on non-Rubi Models

So, one of the YJ guys on another board figured out how to install the electronic sway-bar disconnect system from the JK Rubi onto his YJ ... he got the entire disconnect system from his dealer for $80 .

Now, considering that the sway-bar disco is late avail on X's and Saharas, my guess is that we could order that part (52060300AD) and easily install it ourselves (or, at least with some help from our friends at Project-JK ). I mean, if this guy can get it to work on a YJ, it's gotta work on a JK... and for $80?? Sounds like a heck of a deal to me....

Any thoughts?

Seems to good to be true....I hope it is true...but 80 bucks sounds cheap compared to aftermarket disco's at around 125 bucks and those are manual.

I have a crash parts database for work. I write vehicle damage estimates for an insurance company. It is listing the same part # as the one in the article and a price of 67.70. It shows to be the bar, electric motor, computer board switching device.

It appears that for a no mod install you would need to replace the rt sway bar mount which costs 72.85 . This mount keeps the motor in place. It looks like the normal sway bar bushing with an exhaust hanger. It mounts to the rt frame rail in the same place as the non disco spay bar bushing mount

Of course you would need to wire the motor to a switch or convert to a manual system activation "handle" like the second option in the YJ article on the other forum.

I am going to the local parts dept 1st thing in the morning to place the order. I want to get my order in before MOPAR figures out he database pricing mistake/ or that they simply can sell it for more.

I also read about this on the other forum and prices seem to vary between states. They all seem to be lower than 80 bucks though. Do you think the switch and wiring may be another part we can order? It would make for a cleaner and easier install.

I am sure you can order the switch, but I think the factory Rubicon setup runs off of the jeep's main computer. I think that we would run into some pretty complicated situations.

If anyone knows how to make it work with the factory switch please let us know!!!!

I just got back from the stealership.

I was able to order the elect. sway bar for 61.43 including tax (67.70 retail, given to me for 57.55 plus tax).

I will let you guys know how the install goes.

I'd be very interested in this-- couldn't afford to go Rubicon with my JK, but adding the features piecemeal is something I can do!

I have to say great new's but this Suck's!.....I've had the Terraflex S/T Swaybar System on order for a month now, I called last week & they said could be 2 more month's before they have it. For $380 for the Terraflex I could had my Dealer Install the E-Disco.

Honestly, I have no idea how the e-disco would work on a YJ as the physical lenght of the JK sway bar is significantly wider than what that YJ would have but hey, that's another story all together.

Regarding the price of the e-disco, if in fact it really is a cheap as $80, that would be one hell of a deal especially since aftermarket links alone typically costs at least that much. Please keep us up to date.
