When I did mine, I removed the bracket the stock brake line was threaded through under the spring perch. On the inboard side of where the bracket was attached, there is a vertical slot. I ran 2 zip ties through there, and wrapped them around the brake line. It seems like that is all you need to keep the line down under the spring perch, and keeps the factory like routing of the cables.

so I did the brake over this weekend, the write ups helped a ton. just as a sanity check, does everything look kosher? the fronts are both free balling it, using some zip ties to keep the abs tidy. the rears are both running around the sway bar though, does it look okay?

The stock front lines have plenty of length for most lifts. The problem is they are held to a bracket that is attached to the lower spring perch. I cut the bracket from the lines using a cut-off tool. When cutting this bracket free from the brake line you have to have a steady hand as the cut-off wheel will be very close to cutting the brake line itself if your not careful. Once I had the brackets cut off I made a couple of aluminum brackets that mount to the shock to hold the brake lines up a bit higher which give plenty of slack for a 3-4" lift. Here's a couple crappy cell phone pics.

yeah I thought it was funny that the "extended" front brake lines are the same length as factory on the 11's, you just mount them with the elbow facing the other way and without that bracket, for a ton more length! However I am a schmuck, so no cutting the bracket off for me

Thanks guys. I was really stumped on the whole lower bracket thing on my 2012 when I did the lift this weekend. I put JKS discos on and looked at the axle under droop and was like.....no way this is going to work without front extended lines. I looked at what's out there and the replacement lines look to be very close the the length of the factory lines. So I was like wtf.

So the ruling is to undo the lower bracket. get the line out of it and then use zip ties, hose clamps, etc to route the line in back of the shock?

Also...If I did opt for the aftermarket lines that are braided stainless, is there a noticeable difference in brake performance, feel, etc?

I relocated the front brake lines on my 2011 with this $10 mod. No drilling or cutting required.
