Default Intake...

Hey all,
Just recently I hydro locked my 09 2 DR while driving home in the rain.. this resulted in a blown motor and transmission. I have been looking to find a way to fix the crappy intake setup that these JK's are running. The only solution i have found is a snorkel, however I am not a fan of the looks especially on a stock Jeep. I have been looking at some cold air intake systems but am not sure how well these are at keeping water out of my motor. Have any of you Had troubles with this? What systems do you recommend? Thanks for your help!

Yeah... It kinda pissed me off, but it had been raining pretty hard for like 3 days and on my two mile drive home for wal-mart the motor decided to blow up... The insurance company took care of it for me but i was without it for 2 months and had to drive my old crappy cavilier...

Sorry to hear that, but glad your insurance company took care of it...Is your JK stock height/unlifted and were you still running the front plastic air dam?

ok so you have me curious, why did insurance cover it and not Jeep. If what you are saying iss true, then there would have been a MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR design flaw somwehere in the intake system.

thats cool that insurance covered it, but IMO i dont think this is the whole story. which if its not the whole story, then keep it to yourself and CYA.

edit: why is the intake a "crappy" design? did it change from the 07? mine seems to a be pretty good design

I'm wondering if the hood pad (which my rubicon has) has anything to do with water splashing/spraying under the hood?

Sucks thats what happened to you!
