Are intakes really worth it?
So I have a 2010 unlimited with a 4" lift 37 inch tires and a dynomax dual exhaust. I know I need to regear but I just can't afford it right now. I can't keep a constant speed up on the highway even with my manual transmission. Is an intake really going to help me that much? What kind? Thoughts?

We've just been having this very conversation... You'll find both sides of the opinion in that and the other intake threads... To sum up: I "feel" a difference in my 2012 manual after adding a drop in k&n filter, I would previously have to down shift when approaching hills, now not so much...
Thats just my experience perceived or real, there is a difference...

Not a fan of intakes. Programmer may help some, but they tend to make the most noticeable improvement in the Autos.
Save the money you would be wasting on the intake and put it towards the only real thing that will help with your 37s (gears)

My opinion is that they do make a difference but whether the difference is something that you can feel on the butt Dyno is the question. In every day driving, I doubt you will see any gain at all and in your example, I don't think so as where it does come alive is during hard acceleration and that is about it. You will not find a performance car without one but in a Jeep, how often will you find yourself in a scenario that will feel gains...... Not so sure. It is simple, more air in and more air out equates to more HP but there are several variables according to the conditions. I have always used them and will continue to use them as it aids in efficiency, how much, I am not sure..... Maybe 1mpg under perfect conditions?
In your case since you are not giving enough throttle just trying to maintain speed to cause the stock set up to be a bottleneck, I would try something else. A programmer would be the best place to start if you are holding off on a gear change. I have had great results in previous vehicles using a Sprint Booster. Does not add any power but it changes the parameters in the throttle position sensing. Seat of the pants improvement for sure but not sure how the Jeep reacts to them. I have one sitting here to install so I guess I will find out.
Gears would be the sure bet.

U need to re gear.... I had 37s on my 2010 JKU Sahara and it was horrible on the hiway I did the programmers and chips throttle body spacer exhaust and snorkel.... I rolled it before I got to put gears in it though.... Got 35s on a rubi now w/4.10s its perfect for me!
