jack stands.
i found a great deal on a craftsman 12 ton jack only $35 as for jack stands i found those too but the 12 ton ones were $119 dont really want 3 ton thats like walking the edge but i couldnt find any 6 ton
Like one of the guys said get the best ones you can find it is your life depending on them. Look for the ones with a wide base for better stability. My dads side of the family is all mechanics and we always used iron I beams with extra support welded in. Just a thought if you know a welder
hmmm, couple questions about jack stands and jacks in general
I have a stock 08 Rubicon. I believe it weighs a shade under 4500lbs.
I do my own basic maintenance (fluids, 5-tire rotation, etc.) and I won't be lifting it or doing any serious mods for a while.
I would never get under a vehicle on a jack.
I place the jack under the axle (as shown in the manual). I assume I would put the jack stands there, too. Is that correct?
I have seen people position the jack under the differential, is that OK?
If I am only jacking or using the stands to raise either the front end or rear end (in other words, always having at least two wheels on the ground), am I OK using my 2 1/4-ton jack? (and 2 1/4 ton stands)
Thanks!

Above all with jack stands, get good ones, work on LEVEL ground, and for god's sake use wheel chocks. I ussually use 4 jackstands for one end of a vehicle. I'm really safety conscience after almost being cruched under a dumptruck years ago that was driven up on some wood blocks. I still remind my dad he almost killed me.
