Default Jeep JK 3.6 Normal EGT Range?

Hey y’all. Was driving on the highway today and noticed on my kenwood head unit that my EGTS were sitting between 1650-1680 when on a steady incline for a couple minutes. Are these normal operating temps or am I frying something? I might add that I have a 16 Sahara 3.21 gears on 35x12.50 toyos on 20x12s with 2” spacers. Coolant stayed at 195 and trans 165.

Interesting, until now EGT never entered my thoughts. Only time I heard about it was the Tractor Pulls with the Turbo Diesels that would melt pistons. Good Luck on the search.

I wouldn't get too riled up about those temps. My Chev engine on my HP Tuners has a limit of 1100 deg C to enrichen the fuel for cool down and that is about 2000 degrees F. But EGT really makes one think about how engines work because if you slow down a bit and change down then watch the temps drop quite a bit. These are how truckers (that own their rigs) drive to save the turbo. But closing in on 1700 degrees is borderline glowing red exhaust and when one pulls a hill like that and wants to stop at the top then a 1-2 minute idle down is good medicine for your engine. That is why I preach to 3.6 guys to get the temps down on their engines - my mechanic neighbour just bought a 3.6 Grand Cherokee and is doing that from 215F down to 185F and then telling the ECM that he did it. Sorry for the rant but heat kills mechanicals.
