Jeep weight
Yeah, I think the 2-door feels quicker and sportier to drive because of the bumpy, pitching ride, courtesy of the short wheelbase. The main difference in performance really is on tight trails. Was out the other day for a run with a group of guys in different vehicles going through a logging area and in quite a few places only my 2-door and my buddy's TJ could get around some of the hairpins on what were actually dirt-bike tracks as there was no room for the 4-door JKs & other pickups & SUVs to back up & do a 3-point turn.

surprising how much heavier newer models are. with all the plastic, thinner metal, etc wouldn't expect heavier vehicles. my jku doors are much lighter than my old yj, despite window motors. go figure. lots of electronics??
Kind of a random question and probably a stupid one, but if I had to jack up the whole car probably for a couple hours (which I have to) and if I'll use 4 jacks. Would FOUR 3 Ton jackstand be sufficient?
Hmm...Let's see.
So my 2008 2-door stock was 4,129 lbs, probably a bit more w/Dana 44's and e-disco motor since it's a Rubicon.
Add Front bumper + 90 lbs.
Winch + 85 lbs.
Front/rear Diff cover + 20 lbs.
RR Oil Pan/Trans Skid plates + 60 lbs.
PS Evap Canister Skid + 40 lbs.
(5) 35" Nitto Trail Grapplers + 185 lbs.
FT 3" LA Lift + 50 lbs.
Misc. Auxiliary lighting, wiring, CB radio + 20 lbs.
Viair compressor, tow straps, D-Rings & other equipment + 50 lbs.
Tool Bag, First Aid stuff + 40 lbs.
Guess it all adds up. I could be pushing 5k, especially with my ass sitting in the drivers seat... LOL.
All this in a vehicle with the aerodynamic properties of a brick. No wonder my mpg's suck.

All vehicles have a tendency to get heavier over time due to several things: increased standard equipment, safety features, more features (i.e. Power windows, locks, etc.) but most importantly the much larger size of the vehicle. I parked near a stock TJ the other day and it was ridiculous how much bigger the JKU is next to it. That all adds weight. Plus Jeep owners like steel, so aluminum is not very prevalent. Then add all the crap we add on and we got ourselves a big fat brick. But I LOVE my big fat brick!
