It seems to be the best "bang for the buck" as it does the basics that any modder needs in adjusting the odometer/spedomoter and, on an auto, the sift points.

What does the Hypertech do that the ProCal does not that makes it worth the bonus money? Does it advance the timing and change the fuel air mix electronically? I'm trying to decide if I should K.I.S.S. and get the ProCal or spend the extra dollars (since I'm spending anyway) on the Hypertech.
I'm not aware that the ProCal actually adjusts shift points as my understanding is that it only restores them to what the stock settings would be after a tire/gear change. I don't want to underscore that as it's extremely important to have the shift points in sync as they are determined by throttle position, speedometer and the sensor at the wheel. Without a properly calibrated speedometer your automatic transmission is going to be hunting for gears with a tire or gear change.

As I don't have an automatic transmission on my JK I can't be real specific on what a programmer will do for your JK. I do have a Superchips on my Dodge Ram with an automatic transmission and it does adjust shift firmness along with user selectable WOT shifts. There is a lot of merit in the simplicity of the ProCal and what it brings to the table for your auto JK. Likewise there is a pretty decent amount of performance to be gained with a programmer and adjustments to fuel trim, advance along with the shift points.

I can't validate the cost/value of those for you, but for me the Superchips was the way to fly and you'd be better off to find the user of a Hypertech to speak toward the specifics of how it deals with the shift points. Performance wise in my eyes there is a clear winner and the rest you'll need to sort out with the comments from others along with your own cost/value analysis.

JPop,

Thanks. I edited my original post right when you were replying to correct my statment that I was indeed refering to the Flashpag, not the Hypertech.

I suppose at this phase of my buildup I'm considering the long term applications of any upgrade I purchase. I can easily purchase the ProCal and get the results I need AT THIS TIME in that it will adapt my shift points and speedo to the taller tires and adjust the TPMS sensor.

What I'm concerned with is the long term investment. The AEV ProCal binds to the JK's VIN making it effectivly useless to anyone other than the original purchaser and making it's resale value zero. So if I purchase one now and buy a Flashpaq later, I've basically wasted $130. If I purchase a Flashpaq and it can do everything the ProCal can do and grow with my JK as I add other mods then it's a much wiser investment of the money.

Do you feel my logic here is sound, or have I overlooked something?

Well, I bought a Flashpaq with no shift point advantage for my 6 speed over the ProCal. My cost/value analysis was done all on the basis of performance as I already owned a Hypertech. I would do it again today but I'm not sure if that at all helps you ender a decision.

Don't forget the added benefit of being able to upgrade the Flashpaq as they become available......a BIG bonus in my book...

You are correct that the AEV Procal binds to the JK's Vin BUT if you remove the programing of the Procal (put it back to stock), you can then sell it and they can in turn bind it to their vin. So basically one Vin at a time...

x2...Would highly recommend the Superchip....I was previously running the Hypertech and with the SC Flashpag, it's like night & day...Only wished the SC was available sooner, then I wouldnt have to had spent the $$$ on the Hypertech....The SC makes running the 33s bearable with the 3.73 gearing...This is going to be my 3rd fill up at the pump, but I have been averaging 15.7 mpg city driving...

I have the Hypertech and a trueflow intake. I noticed a VERY nice increase in power. Plus when I hit 2500rpm in 3rd gear she makes a nice growl which sounds like an exhaust but is actually the intake.

Here is the link for the intake...

I can't even begin to tell you how many threads I've read on the different chips/programers etc. After doing so, today I pulled the trigger and bought the Superchip flashpaq . Thanks to those of you who gave your unbias, educated opinion on the subject matter.
