pitman arm is the arm that comes off the steering box and drops to the steering arm(i think thats what its called)

a drop pitman arm,, is a longer arm. you'll need one for lifting a jeep, it keeps the Steering Geometry correct

i stole these pics from google

How big of a lift are you installing? You shouldn't need one for anything under 4".

A little more know-how in my head, Thanks.

I just finished up with the 4" skyjacker and the geometry looks a little severe. The intial test drive before alignment had a little bump steer going on. The wife will be driving to pick the kids up from school on warm days. I need it as safe as possible for her and the kids.

The front end alignment may help the problem. I've also ordered a steering stabilzer to help out.

4wd.com has the pitman arm back ordered unitl sometime in January. Does anyone else have another suggestion. I'll start looking elsewhere.

What? You mean to tell me that Skyjacker sold their 4" kit without a dropped pitman arm?? In all honesty, I can tell you that is one of the reasons why some of the other manufacturers have not shipped out their 4" kits yet - it's the piece they are waiting for to complete the kit. Unfortunately, I think you're going to have to wait until January - sorry.

It's not listed as one of the parts that come with either of their 4" kits or even their 6" kit but I will contact them to verify this.
