Default jk Frames

i am going to begin a lot of upgrades to my 2010 jeep wrangler sport and my first upgrade will be my frame. i could buy a new frame rust free or refurbish my current one. buying a new one would make everything a lot easier so i'd like to go that route. if i do i'd like to buy a newer frame because it'll have bolt on motor mounts rather than weld on for when i do a hemi swap and i don't know how to weld. i keep seeing sites that say frames are interchangeable 2007 through 2017 and some that say 2007-11 or whatever. does anyone have any suggestions on where to buy the frame and if i have to get one from 07-11 or can i get a newer one?

First of all welcome to JKF.

I think there are adapter mounts available for the Hemi conversion. Gen 4 Chev you have to weld in mounts and Gen 5 Chev you simply buy the adapters and use the stock Jeep mounts. How rusty is your frame? Ever hear of Rust Mort or similar products such as Rust Check Rust Converter. You brush that on, let itdry overnight and end up with dead black substance where the rust was. You paint over it properly and it will never rust again. Might save you a lot of money.

Also check out Ospho, changes the iron oxide (rust) to iron phosphate which is corrosion resistant and paintable. There's also the option of wire brushing/flap discing all the rust off and painting. How bad is it?

Good luck, and keep us posted on progress!

I'm doing the same right now. Scrubbing everything down to metal and surface rust, then Ospho, primer, paint. Hopefully this will last me another decade.
