Default JK Heim Steering

Hello Everyone,

I have a 2008 Jeep JK X with a RC 4.5' lift on 35" BFG AT and i started having some DW issues recently, Right now up front i have the Ruff Stuff 1 ton offset tie rod, rough country track bar and stock drag link and running no SS. Everything was fine until one of the Ruff Stuff Tie rod ends went bad &nbsp;(after 3 months of normal driving) and after replacing the TRE i get this bad shake everytime i hit a bump on the road at speeds higher than 35mph.<br>Tires are balanced, wheel spacers are torqued, track bar hole is not ovaled and all other TRE are good. I was about to order the rough country dual SS kit but i started thinking about heim steering. I had OTK Heim Steering on my 96 ZJ and worked great and i was wondering if anyone had done the upgrade on their JK?

Here is a pic of my old ZJ which i just sold about 2 years ago.

Before you just start throwing parts at it, I suggest you search for diagnosing death wobble and follow the step by step diagnosis video link on youtube posted by planman.

Agreed, steering box could be a factor, ball joints could be a factor, TRACK BAR could be a huge factor (the joints themselves), along with many other things.

Follow the planman list for DW and isolate and diagnose your cause of wobble.

At the height you are at JK guys do a drag link flip and raised axle side bracket. Lots of threads on it here.

2008 Jeep JK X with a RC 4.5' lift
4.5 foot lift?

Which specific components came with the lift? Drop pitman and frame-side trackbar bracket? Cam bolts?

The dw/shimmy diagnosis thread they are referring to is stuck right to the top of the JK Write-Ups area. Wouldn't hurt to go over everything again, even though you indicate that all ends are currently good and nothing is ovaled and everything is torqued and ...

I've had Death Wobble twice now and both times was my control arm bushing. Now have gone to Curries all well for another 3 years?
Ps: like the idea of the heim joint tie rod, so chimed in

Make sure the heims are not perfectly flat. Most will work but there are some that allow no misalignment if you browse around. You need a little misalignment. I am running heim everything on my jks joint.

If you don't mind me asking where did you get the parts for your steering setup?
