The key may need to be reprogrammed. Also is there auto start. My old car had auto start and all the keys needed to be reprogrammed. Including the one that was strapped to the auto start module (after market auto start)

If everything else is working fine, a bad or wrong key can start it, but the engine will shut off after a few seconds.

I had an issue on my 08 jku. I went out one morning, got in the car, turned the key, and the lights came on, but no click or anything to turn the car over. I don't remember if there was a tsb, an actual recall, or if it was just something the tech told me, but they said that there was an issue where static caused the wireless control module? to fail, and it wouldn't recognize the chip in the key. I believe they had to replace the module and re-program the keys.

I had a very similar issue last summer, it turned out that I had a dead cell on my battery, it would show 12v and all the lights would come on but it wasn't until we did a load test that we found it was only putting out something like 50 amps. It was enough to make everything work except the starter, it wouldn't even click the solenoid.

When static from the key to the WCM is the issue, pulling up on the white "Ignition Off Draw" fuse holder will usually fix it.
TSB (08-007-08) - 2006-2008 Chrysler WCM No Start

With the key out of the ignition, pull the plastic holder up to its stop, wait 30 seconds, and reset.

I would definitely try this. I am pretty sure they told me the module was damaged by the static and had to be replaced, but if it can just be reset, go for it. Do a google search for 2008 wrangler static causing no start, and you will find a lot of stuff on this issue. Good luck.
