Have the standard issues of jumping out of first gear, but this morning as I was coming home from hunting I hit a rough area where a busted up black top road meets a gravel/rock road. There is a good pot hole there and I hit it! Next thing I know, I lose forward drive and hear grinding. Scared the hockey out if me. Thought I lost my transmission or something! Never happened before! Should I be worried about something?

 

Probably need a new trans...dont mean to scare you. I just had to put one im my 08 for the same reason...4300 dollars later I got my jeep back (including new clutch).

 

Hope not. Hope I just didn't have it pulled down into gear good enough!

 

See if it recurs. My transmission lever flaps around like crazy sometimes - it may have just bounced it out.

 

Could be your synchronizers going bad. I've heard when they start going bad your vehicle will start jumping out of gear. In your case, hitting a pot hole that hard could have just knocked it out of gear.

 

Ive had this happen before ive hit the bump in the interstates where highway meets overpass and had it come out a few times in the little over a year ive owned my 12. I figured i didnt pull it back far enough. No funny noises hard shifting or any issues to report your alright!
On a side note Ive also hit bumps had cruise control shut off too but i figure thats just A saftey feature of ESC not sure though
