Default Just ordered lockers

Well i just ordered a pair of Auburn Ected lockers for the JK. There is an article on 4wheelersupply on them installing lockers on there X unlimited with the only modification required on the dana 44 is to open up the holes on the carrier bolt holes on the locker. LOL for my sake it hope thats all it takes. This could be an expensive mistake if they are wrong lol.

You the man,...I looked at the Auburn very hard and read the Build-up article over & over. I read some up & down review's and was totally confused at that point,... Good Luck ((Lock front & rear))
here's one
What i dont like about it is that when locked, its just a glorified limited slip and still allows slippage as its not a fully locked unit. Not sure how much of a problem that would be with smaller tires and wheelin in the sand/snow, etc, but if you were running 35s or bigger and do alot of rock crawling, i could see it not performing nearly as well as say an ARB or an OX. For the money, id pay just a little more and get a true selectable locker.
Another one,,,.
I have the standard Alburn in the rear of my XJ and so far, it works good.
The ecteds just preload the cone clutches to make for a greater resistance.
These things will pull about 450 Ft Lbs of torque before slipping. What this
means is it will slip before it breaks an axle.

Hope you have no trouble like this guy,..

SUCKS! The install is allot more difficult that a std. diff / carrier. The Dana 30 spacifically is not designed well to fit with the shim pack behind the bearings. The bearings & shims do NOT sit well against the magnet & the dimension changes w/ each attempted setup. also several instances where the magnet did not fully lock & got stuck on a slippery surface.

nam6869usmc,
Thanks for the insight on the Auburn. I see you installed an Aussie up front. Have you been able to put it to the test off-road yet? How is it on street? Any insight would be appreciated. I am planning on this mod in the future.

Old School,... my big test will be at CampJeep July 26th-28th in the offroad test, and it will be tested ((I will be writting an offroad review when I get back)), On the street, most of the time you don't no it's there, on real tight turns parking you can hear it a little clicking....but when you pull it into
4-hi or 4-lo it's locked, and that is golden to me. There is hundreds of threads on what's best, Front or Rear Locker, and the front seems to be the way to go. If you think about it, Front Locker pulling you over the rocks, and with Rear LSD with BLD(Brake Lock Diff) working it's magic I think it oughtta be an aninal. We'll see ;

I've been reading every word on your front locker. I'm anxious to see how it does in July. That's about the time I'll have the slush funds to order one.
Agree: Locked in the front and LSD/BLD in the rear should be an animal!

I will second that! It is very quiet during normal day to day driving. I installed mine over the weekend and I really can't tell that its in there driving to and from work. (At full turn I can hear some ratcheting, but it is not loud at all.) I have done some minor wheeling over the last few days after work and I can see a big difference in traction. I am definitely a happy camper!

lol nice thing about having a bf that works at a 5star jeep dealership. I make good friends and even better deals for installs. So my guess is they arent going to have to much difficutly installing everything since they have all the factory tools. I called 4WheelSupply about their experinces with the lockers and they said they havent had any issues with sliping the locker. My guess is if i do have that problem it would be for the best cause it will keep the front axle alive since i am a little concered with keeping it alive with the 37s. I plan on wheeling on the 23rd of june so i wont have to wait long to find out lol.

That is a great benefit of those Locker's,...rather slip than break anyday, Actually a great feature if you ask me..... I'm still thinking about putting one in my rear, I'll let you install them, then all needed info/review's will come from you(then I'll believe the Good & Bad) >>> if any......((of course I can just come up to the Giant & ask you))
Bye the way, your GF has a Bad A$$ looking Jeep...roof rack with Spare on Top.

She bought it that way lol. she loves it more than me i think lol. IT wheels really well considering how small the mods are. She even managed a black trail at rausch creek with it. Good spotting is all it took.
