X's 2. I have no idea how the Elka shocks compare to King shocks, but it's ridiculous to act like Elka is some no-name brand that hasn't been around.

My OP I was wanting to compare the 9550s to the King shocks. It is worth the >1000 dollar difference.

Sorry I think the thread got off track a bit...so are you wanting a comparison between the 9550 and the 2.0" Diameter EVO SPEC King Non Reservoir Shocks?

Yah, exactly.

I was talking to alot of people before i decided to go with the King remote res. shocks, without a doubt, King are top notch and the 'elka' are NOT. At Cop4x4 they use King and suggest king over the elka. So, when I bought the 4" long arm teraflex lift from them, they suggested to go with the kings and not the elka. I decided I trust them.

I also spent a TUN of time reading reviews on king shocks. Really, you cant get better. I cant find a SINGLE THING about the elka except they are better than the shitty stock shocks that used to come with the lift.
I have. In fact, I've owned several sets of Elka shocks on different race vehicles, and I've used king shocks and Elka shocks on the same long travel Yamaha Rhino (15" suspension travel), and the Elka shocks blew away the King shocks. No contest. Elka is very well known in racing circles, just as much so as King. I think Elka makes better shocks than King, although I can't say that is the case for the JK version shock from each company because I haven't used both in that setting.

Im not talking about elka outside of jeeps. Im talking about jeeps.

King has made shocks for jeeps forever, i had never heard of elka shocks for jeeps until a few years ago.

Camp at cop4x4 swears by the kings, ill take his word for it.

Most of the real race cars and truck that race Baja use King. I have had the opportunity to work along side with Elka on some testing (Not for a slow moving Jeep) and let’s just say I was not impressed. Because of it I would not run them on anything ever. This all took place about four years back and things could have changed, but to be safe I would stick with a high quality shock like Fox or King. This is just my opinion and does not reflect the opinion of this forum.

I just ordered my teraflex 6 inch lift without the shocks and I ordered the evo shocks so I'll see just how good they are.

A few years ago before ELKA came to TeraFlex there were some issues with the shocks, but that's kind of normal when your developing something. ELKA is a big player in the ATV/UTV industry with a solid reputation there. TeraFlex has been very impressed with the results and tuning of the ELKA shocks. ELKA engineers/techs worked with our R&D dept here for several days testing setups with TeraFlex suspensions.

It really depends on the user. If you are going to be running through the dessert at high speeds where your suspension is cycling through its range quickly then yes the King shocks are easier to justify as they will not fade nearly as quickly if at all.

If you are going to be going slow like rock crawling, trail riding, or using your suspension in a way that it will not be cycled through the entire range quickly and constantly then you wouldn't be getting the full benefit of the King shocks, and so it would be up to the user if they can justify an extra $1,000 for something they will only get a slight benefit from.

I would however be able to easilly justify the extra $25 to move up to an OME LT shock, or the $40 to go to the Bilstein 5100 shock.
