KN Drop in Filter
So was fed up with crappy stock filter, bought a new KN Drop in Filter.
1. after driving my normal route the jeep does not drop gears anymore when in overdrive.
2. slight increase on the throttle not so much lag from standing still.
well worth $45

first part i bought for jeep. very happy with it. if you take the piece off the air box that goes into side of hood compartment it will help with throttle response and give a throaty sound on accel. no cai for me.
give it time and you will rip it out and go back to stock. They let a lot of doo do in and when you recharge them these engines just don't like oiled filters much

I have one on my last two trucks and never had a single problem with the K&N. Hell I have on on my drag bike and that filter hangs off the rear of the motor and gets caked full of sand/dust and bugs everytime I ride. And that thing runs like a top. (the valves and rings are in still in spec after years of running with exposed filter) I know that may be different to some of you but its the same principal.

I installed the Airraid CAI last week. By looking at your pic, I can see the design difference. The Airraid leaves the front by the headlight open to allow ram air to enter. The airraid box ends closer to the radiator cap, so the whole front section is open to that airflow through the headlight and grill area. It made a huge improvement over stock. Driving uphill on the highway, I can leave it in 6th where as with stock I was dropping to 4th. Big difference and improvement in drivability.
I had a K&N on my previous vehicle and blew out 2 MAF sensors due to the oil gunking up and dyno-proven on an 04 GSXR1000 to decrease performance.
