KN Drop in Filter
I guess you guys taking out the air filter "mini snorkel" don't play in water often, right?
Nothing wrong with the stock filter, it does extremely well for fine dust and such, which is what you want a filter for...>TO FILTER! I have no problem changing the stocker out, because it filters with no side affects. I think the K&N drop ins are no help personally.

If you're considering a K&N or any other aftermarket reusable filter, I highly recommend reading the following:

If you read the articles, you'll see that the K&N is the best flowing filter tested. However, this is only about a .14% difference (note the ".", not 14%), and not enough to have any real effect on power. It also doesn't filter as well.
There's not even a significant improvement by running with NO air filter (not that you'd do that).
Stick with the paper filters.

I have never had issues with K&N, AFe, or Air-raid Drop in oiled filters gumming up or exess oil down in my intake tube. If you are worried about dust getting past the filter take an extra precaution just add a pre-filter to protect from the finer dusts/silts if you are driving in dusty conditions.
My Dad has a K&N CAI on his Power Stroke and it lets A LOT of fine dust through. I had a K&N on a Yamaha Raptor and it was the same. K&N has the best air flow, but the worst filtering.
I have a Dodge with a 5.9 Cummins that has 310,000 miles on it. From day one I have been running an AFE Stage II with a Pro Guard 7 filter and inside the intake tube still looks BRAND SPANKEN NEW. I buy a new filter for $100.00 every 100,000 miles instead of trying to clean the old one. If AFE makes one for the JK thats the CIA I will buy, but I havent checked yet.

1. my MPG has risen from 16.5mpg AVG to 17.4 mpg.
nearly a whole mile and i have driven it on more mountain roads.
Can't Complain my testing of the filter will stop now as i have just installed a Superchips.
