I have 315 70 17 on stock wheels with 1.25 spacers... you need spacers on 285 as wheel (they will rub your sway bar if not)

The big think you need to know.... 35/12.50/70 is the same height as 315/70/17... but the 315/17/70 is only 12 inches wide.... works much better with stock wheels...

Just FYI...

The first number in your example (305) is the width of the tire, in millimeters. A 305 tire would be 12 inches wide.

The second number (70) is the ratio of height to width.

To get the actual diameter in inches, first convert the width to inches by dividing by 25.4 (1 in = 25.4 mm):

305/25.4 = 12.0 inches

Next, multiply that result by the ratio, 0.70, to get the tire section height:

12.01 * 0.70 = 8.4 inches

This number needs to be doubled because it only accounts for half the tire:

8.41 x 2 = 16.8 inches

The actual diameter of the tire is this number plus the diameter of the wheel:

16.82 + 17 = 33.8 inches

This does not take load into consideration.

285 wide is 11.5, 295 is 11.7, 305 is 12, 315 is about 12.5-12.7...

315 seems to be a little smaller than a 35 but wider.
