Angry Leaking Shocks?

Hey Yall! Watsup?

This is my first post and I'm new here, so sorry if I posted this in the wrong spot.

I took my wrangler in to the dealer to have it checked after I got towed in Chicago. Just wanted to make sure those rats didn't screw up anything after they dragged all over town.

I find my engine and stuff is fine, but they tell me my shocks are leaking. I bought the '07 jeep used a couple a months ago with 15k miles on it. It's lifted. Jeep says that since the shocks aren't OEM, they can't do anything.

My question is: can I do fix those shocks on my own? I've been reading up about these and some books say take it to a pro. Others say, buy the parts and do it yourself. Now I looked up the parts for the JK: and a pair of shocks runs for about fifty bucks.

Can someone point me in the right direction and give me some advice as to what brand I should stick with and how exactly I go about removing my old greasy shocks and putting new ones in?

Thank you for all the advice Just want to make sure I'm up to par before I take her in the mud in a couple weeks.

What size lift does it have? you'll need aftermarket shocks for sure

I doubt very much that you will be able to "fix" a leaking shock....it's probably had it. Just buy a new set of quality shocks and you won't have to worry about it anymore. Go with any of the major brands the guys use around here....Terra Flex, OME, Rubicon Express, etc... and you'll be glad you did.

If it is lifted make sure you purchase a shock w/ the proper travel for your setup. ie: a stock shock will not work w/ a 4" lift and if you are at stock dont buy a shock for a lifted jeep.
