Lessons learned while modding (warning---long post)
My advice is to armor first. I believe you should protect first, then mod. Like you said, after that it is personal preference. There are some basics though...
- If you are armoring with a lot of heavy stuff, you will need to lift the Jeep a bit right then or you will start overcompressing springs and hitting the bumpstops. I put in puck spacers and extended bumpstops to hold me until I do the true lift. I realize that I am overloading the stock srpings and may destroy them, but I was going to toss them anyway when I get my lift.
- Decide on the tire size you want to go to before you buy your lift. Don't lift more than you need to clear the tires.
Really, after armor, I just watch for good sales on the parts I want and buy them in the order I can get the best prices.

This is real cool, thank you for writing it. 2 targeted questions.
On the lift, if you do have a puck space lift. When it comes time for the life (I too will probably go OME 2"), Do you remove the spacers?
Is the best stuff, always the expensive stuff? Or, is this, again personal preference.
I am not trying to start anything, just trying to learn. I am going the overland wrought as my other hobby is photography and I just want to get there. If I can go around a rock, I will.
