I went with J.E. Reel 1350's.. but 1310's will do you just fine.

DIY, why not.. There is enough info on this board to help you through it as long as you have the tools.

I wish I had more time to do more DIY projects.. I have all the tools, the space, knowledge, ... just no time.
Ok, I'm with ya, but check this out.

http://www.northridge4x4.com/proddet...d=REEL-1310-OE

This page on the Northridge website shows 1310 CV and 1310 OE. Which do I "want"? I thought OE stood for Original Equipment and that the CV was better, but it's cheaper and that doesn't compute to me.

Please decipher. Sorry if I'm stupid.

So this,

JE Reel JK 1310 C.V. Heavy Duty Rear Driveshaft
JE Reel JK 1310 C.V. Heavy Duty Front Driveshaft

is what you're saying I want. At what point do I need to step up to 1350? Larger than 37"?

That 4WD Hardware site is confusing, too. The 1310 says it's for JKs running larger than 36" tires for offroad use and the 1350 says it's for JKs running 37" and larger.

Sounds pretty much the same to me...

If you have the cash and the wife approval I would do the 37's now since you know you want them eventually. It will cost you less in the long run. You could budget for everything (or at least be aware of it), but then just do the lift and tires and see how the Jeep is in your area with the stock gears (probably bad), but you might be able to get by for awhile before doing gears and driveshafts. I would give Wayoflifes rig a thorough go over and look at some of the things he's done to reliably run 37's so you know some of the other things you may want/need to do as well.

Something to keep in mind. If you go with 35's and don't plan to go any larger you are good with any of the 3 sizes of rims (15s-17s) you listed. If you want 37's now or even think you will upgrade to them in the future your options in a 16 inch rim tire are very limited. I bought AEV 16x8's and put 315/75/16 (35/12.5/16) Hankook tires on and I love them. I'm thinking about steping up to a 37 (325/80/16) next year and the only options I have found in a radial are MT Baja Claws and Pro Comp X-Terrains. I was perfectly happy with 35's but I can't leave well enough alone...

Yeah dude get the 37's and take your wife to a nice dinner for merely suggesting you do so, will look great, you have a Rubi, it's a 6spd, 4:10s it'll be ok for awhile on the road, 5:13's will be a great mod down the road. I'd also get the ORE C2 front axle gussets for those big tires.

I wish I would have bought 37s Vs. 35s now with 4.5" lift....

You could do the Teraflex 4" (hear it gives closer to 4.5-5") kit which is only marginally more expensive than the clayton 3.5" kit and then have room to upgrade to a long arm in the future with only minor additional purchases should you decide you need it.

Listen to your wife!

I was about to go for 35" on 3" lift, when the little guy on my shoulder whispered in my ear: "You know you won't stop there, within a year you're going higher..." Said and done. I just knew, based on years of experience, that I wouldn't settle with the 35". So I went ahead and ordered 37" and 4,5 LA -and I'm overpleased!

Bottom line: Do what you feel deep inside!
