Default Lift kit and wheels question

Hey all,

New guy here with a 2010 Wrangler Unlimited Sport. I've done quite a bit of research including reading reviews about different kits.

I intend to hit the trails occasionally but 95% of my driving will be on the highway.

I've picked out some Rockstar wheels with 35" Nitto Trail Grapplers. I was told to go with a less aggressive tread to increase lifespan and decrease noise on the highway.

As for the lift kit, I picked out the Rough Country 4" lift ($500) and the Skyjacker Sport Series lift ($620) or the Pro Comp Stage I 4" lift ($630)

I'm not interested in spending $2000 for a long-arm kit or anything crazy.

Could someone please elaborate on the differences in lift kits? I was told a suspension lift (shocks and springs) are best to retain ride quality.

Thanks for any input!

it sounds like you just want to run 35"s, so why not go with a Teraflex 2.5" BB which will allow you to run 35"s?

If you start getting to 3" and higher there are many other parts you need to address on your jeep aside from just slapping a lift on.

I went with a tereflex 2.5 coil lift with my 35s and i am very happy with it, remember the higher you go the more issues you gotta address, and the more money you gotta spend.

Good choice on tires too.

My exact setup with 5.13's. I love it.

If you could elaborate on the difference between a 4" suspension lift compared to the 2.5 BB and 1.5 body lift, I'd appreciate it.

What about something like the RC 3.75" combo lift?

When you go 3 inches or more with a suspention lift, you will need double cartigan drive shafts. I would follow some of the other guys advice and go with a 2.5 BB like this onehttp://www.roughcountry.com/jeep_jk_combo.html with 2.5 inches of suspention, your drive shafts and all other components will be safe, and with the 1.25 inch body, you will be able to put your bigger tires under your fender, without having to worry about your shafts and stuff.

a 4" suspension lift is changing the angles of your suspension components by 4 inches. A 2.5" suspension lift and a 1.5" body lift is only changing your suspension by 2.5", even though you are getting a total of 4" of lift.

once you start changing suspension angles by more than 3", you start having to dump alot more money into beefing up your suspension bits. Its the easiest way to explain it to you so sorry if I sound dumb.

Thanks for all the great replies. I'll go with the 2.5" BB and the 1.5 body lift.

Are there any additional components I will need to purchase to make this work. I've read about sway bars, extended brake lines, etc?

extended brake lines, C Gussets, rear bumper to run a 35" tire.
